Kate Porter, who has advised on FIFA disputes, joins from Skadden Arps

US law firm Vela Wood has recruited Skadden Arps associate Kate Porter, whose areas of expertise include advising clients in FIFA-related disputes.
She will join Vela Wood as a partner in the firm’s sports law practice.
Porter, who spent 11 years at Skadden, where she was an associate, has experience representing football associations in high profile disputes, including acting for the vice president of the Asian Football Confederation and the Qatar Football Association.
Vela Wood has offices in Dallas, Austin, El Paso, San Diego and Miami.
