Royal Spanish Football Federation applies to Madrid Court to join plaintiffs in CVC dispute

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has applied to join the legal proceedings brought by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao against La Liga concerning a €2bn private equity deal agreed by the Spanish league’s governing body.

A RFEF statement said that it had requested that the Madrid court handling the matter admits its participation in the proceedings.

The statement said that RFEF was – like the three plaintiff clubs – seeking the annulment of the agreements and of the transaction itself.

It added that the deal with CVC “increases inequality” and causes incalculable damage to Spanish football.
