Real Madrid to take legal action on racism

Club's striker Vinicius Junior suffered abuse during recent Atletico Madrid match



Real Madrid has ordered its legal team to take action against “anyone who makes racist remarks towards our players”.


It follows incidents of racist abuse directed at the club’s striker Vinicius Junior during a recent match with city rivals Atletico Madrid.


A Real Madrid statement said the club “condemns all types of racist and xenophobic language and behaviour in football, sport and life in general, such as the regrettable and unfortunate comments made against our player Vinicius Junior. “Real Madrid would like to express its affection and support for Vinicius Junior, a player who regards football as an attitude towards life through joy, respect and sportsmanship.”

The statement concluded: “The club has directed its legal services to take legal action against anyone who makes racist remarks towards our players.
