Ex-Sporting footballer Rúben Tiago Rodrigues Ribeiro also advised by 14 Sports Law

Morgan Sports Law and Portuguese law firm 14 Sports Law have successfully represented footballer Rúben Tiago Rodrigues Ribeiro in a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dispute with his former club Sporting Clube de Portugal.
In May 2018, fans of Sporting invaded the club’s training grounds and attacked players in the dressing room following several poor results. As a consequence, several players of Sporting, including Rúben Tiago Rodrigues Ribeiro terminated their employment contracts with Sporting.
Sporting filed a claim before the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC), arguing that Ribeiro had terminated his employment contract without just cause and consequently sought more than €60 million in compensation from Ribeiro.
In February 2020, the DRC rejected Sporting’s claim who then filed an appeal with CAS, again claiming more than €60 million in compensation,
Last month, CAS rejected Sporting’s appeal.
