Zenit Saint Petersburg, FC Dynamo Moscow, FC Sochi and PFC CSKA Moscow lodge CAS appeal

Four Russian football clubs – Zenit Saint Petersburg, FC Dynamo Moscow, FC Sochi and PFC CSKA Moscow – have filed an appeal against UEFA's decision to bar Russian clubs from European competition for the 2022/23 season with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
A statement from Zenit Saint Petersburg said: “Zenit have always supported the principles stated in UEFA’s charter, stating we should play the game in the spirit of mutual respect, understanding, fair play and to exclude any form of discrimination, be that political, religious, racial or indeed any form of prejudice.”
The statement added that Zenit was supported by FC Dynamo Moscow, FC Sochi and PFC CSKA Moscow “in appealing against the decision of UEFA”.
The statement added that the club “respectfully request this appeal to CAS be dealt with expeditiously”.
A Dynamo Moscow statement said: “We hope that the sporting principle will be respected.”
