Campos Mello Advogados and DLA Piper act for John Textor on club takeover

Brazilian law firm Campos Mello Advogados (CMA), in cooperation with DLA Piper, represented John Textor in the negotiation and execution of a binding offer for the acquisition of 90 per cent of the capital stock of Brazilian football club Botafogo.
The CMA team was led by partner Jorge Gallo (pictured, right) and included managing partner Fabio P. Campos Mello (pictured, left) and associate Flávia Cavalcanti Ferreira (pictured, centre).
DLA Piper and Campos Mello Advogados (CMA) are separate and independent law firms, which work in cooperation with one another. Partners of DLA Piper are not partners of CMA; and CMA partners are not partners of DLA Piper.
Gallo said: “It was a pleasure to bring together our market-leading transactional capabilities, experience handling cross-border deals and knowledge of the sports sector to facilitate this transaction.”
Botafogo plays in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the top tier of Brazilian football.
