Ibe sues Bournemouth over image rights

Updated: Jan 7, 2022

Former Liverpool winger Jordan Ibe claims he is owed payments

Former Liverpool winger Jordan Ibe is taking legal action against AFC Bournemouth – the side he left in 2020 regarding image rights payments.

Bournemouth reportedly have told Ibe that they will make the payments until they have confirmed it does not breach HMRC rules.

Upon joining Bournemouth from Liverpool on a four-year contract, Ibe agreed a deal that would seem him given additional payments linked to other commercial activities such as shirt sales.

Ibe reportedly claims he has not received those payments from the final year of his contract, with the club claiming he was not due them as a result of off-field disciplinary issues.

Which law firms does Bournemouth use on player and manager contracts?

In relation to previous contractual matters, Bournemouth has used law firm Walker Morris.

In August 2020, Walker Morris acted for Bournemouth in relation to the contract for the club’s then manager, Jason Tindall.

The club’s senior associate Charlotte Smith advised on Tindall’s contract. Walker Morris’ sports practice is headed by partner David Hinchcliffe.
