Ambush marketing at UEFA 2020 event

Hogan Lovells' Maria Luigia Franceschelli and Andrea Schettino discuss Italian ruling



On 19 April 2022, the first-ever decision based on Italian Law Decree No. 16/2020 – regulating ambush marketing – was issued. It fined the multinational e-commerce company Zalando SE (Zalando) for ambush marketing that took place during the UEFA 2020 football event – which was held in 2021, due to the Covid pandemic.
